Anniversary in ancient Greek style - anniversaries

If the hero of the day is a creative person and is bored with ordinary festive events, you can arrange a holiday in the Greek style, and let it be a kind and pleasant surprise for the birthday boy. In the case when the celebration is held in a large hall, you need to prepare it in advance: fold the snow-white tablecloths on the tables and decorate them with garlands of artificial olive branches and clusters of olives, hang laurel wreaths, hang mountain landscapes on the walls, and beautiful sea views. As table decorations, you can use slides of sea shells, sand, ornamental stones, and laurel branches. If you have various figurines of Greek gods, be sure to use them when decorating your table. Throw a few branches of live ivy on a snow-white figurine - and your table will amaze guests with the nobility and sophistication of its design. For decoration, you can also use various candlesticks made to look like antiquity, and if you have modern candlesticks, with some skill you can give them the appearance of antiquity; to do this, just entwine modern elements with fresh or artificial flowers, matching them to the tone of the room’s decoration and tablecloths If you want to follow the traditions of Greek feasts, instead of traditional chairs, long and wide benches are placed along the tables, draped with burgundy bedspreads, on which it will be comfortable to recline. However, in this case, guests will have to take off their shoes and wash their feet in special basins (this must be previously agreed upon with the guests and clarified how ready they are for the exotic). At the entrance to the hall, guests should be greeted by nymphs and dryads dressed in appropriate costumes (green dresses, loose hair, a wreath of flowers or tree branches on their heads). The girls hand each guest a white wide piece of fabric and help to drape it and pin it on the shoulders with pins. At the same time, men can take off their jackets and roll up their shirt sleeves; ladies take off their stoles, jackets and outer blouses. From the props, you must first prepare several laurel wreaths, which will be awarded for various and longest toasts. At the beginning of the evening, the host (this could be a close relative of the hero of the day, his good friend or a professional) addresses the guests: I thank all of you, dear ones, that you chose to spend time with our venerable meeting, and came to honor the hero of the day. Today Zeus and his wife were going to visit us, but the path from Olympus is difficult, and the gods were delayed on the way, let us not wait any longer, but for now we will begin our cheerful feast, and begin to honor the hero of the day. At this time, the first toasts are made to the hero of the day. While the guests are drinking champagne, a delegation of gods appears in the hall. Aphrodite walks ahead with a huge armful of red or pink roses. She is wearing a pink Greek peplum, her hair is loose, and there is a wreath of small roses on her head. Athena, the goddess of wisdom, walks behind her, wearing a helmet on her head, and carries a gift. Zeus has a large bushy beard, snow-white clothes and a purple cloak on his shoulders. The supreme god holds a magic staff in his hands and solemnly stands in the center of the procession, arm in arm with his wife Hera. The solemn procession is completed by Dionysus, holding a large bottle of wine, and Hephaestus with a huge hammer. The role of gods can be played by any group of guests or relatives of the birthday boy, with whom the roles are rehearsed in advance. Zeus. The difficult journey was left behind, We had to cover a lot of miles, We passed through many villages, And here we are, in this huge hall. We hurried to congratulate the hero of the day. Many years have passed since those long ago, when shepherds climbed to Olympus, They brought a baby to the gods, So that they generously bestowed gifts, Health, fame, money. Today the hero of the day is already 30 (indicate the hero of the day). Now let's see if there is anything to be proud of. Come on, Athena, I’ll give you my word. Athena. Once upon a time, 30 long (the age of the hero of the day) years ago, my gift was intelligence and wisdom, a passion for knowledge, a desire for novelty, and with joy I see that the hero of the day did not waste time all these years. He successfully graduated from the institute (all academic achievements of the hero of the day are listed), And after 5 years the courses are called again, Became a master, increased his rank Teacher, master, the series can be continued... But most importantly, he strives for something new. I have something to be proud of for the hero of the day. Everything I dreamed about has come true. Toasts are raised to the hero of the day; if classmates, teachers, classmates, students are present at the anniversary, then they also speak after Athena’s words. At this time, Hera begins to vigorously pull Zeus's beard, demanding a word. Zeus, who wanted to give the right to congratulate Hephaestus, is forced to retreat, and announces with an embarrassed look. Zeus. My wife wants to say a word, And if I want to stay with a beard, I must please my wife (with a gesture he makes it clear to Hera that she can begin her speech). Hera. I am glad that the family has gathered. I see a son, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a father. At that time, I wanted a large, strong and friendly family. And pride fills my heart, There is support in joy and in trouble, Loneliness no longer threatens. My prophecy was completely fulfilled. I have nothing more to wish for you, I can only watch with joy from Olympus how you live in friendship and harmony, and together in rest and at work. After Hera’s words, the time comes for congratulations and gifts from all the numerous relatives of the hero of the day. They make toasts and present gifts. Zeus (inviting Hephaestus to speak). Now it's Hephaestus' turn. Hephaestus. I will tell you all, my friends, that I have had a lucky fate. They gave me the goddess of beauty as my wife, My student, you and I were pleased. Craftsman, excellent cook, You used my gift correctly. I learned my craft everywhere, always. And fire and water are on your shoulders, You have successfully passed through the pipes of glory, Fate is unlikely to bend you. Success, career and recognition await. Well, let honest work be the path. The hero of the day is congratulated by colleagues at work, the boss or director of the enterprise. Zeus. Great words my friend. Now the word belongs to the goddess of beauty. Aphrodite, now you step in. Aphrodite. In distant and wonderful times I wished for love, earthly happiness, So that kindness would take root in the heart forever, So that there would be mercy and participation, So that someone else’s pain would seem like my own, So that there would be no enemies, sorrows, troubles around, So that life would be full of love and beauty. And you fulfilled my order honestly. There are so many friends, the hall cannot accommodate them all. You have won the love of your colleagues. The whole family honors and respects you. My support is no longer needed. Love is with you everywhere and illuminates your life with its beauty. Toasts are raised to the family. Zeus. Well, now it’s the turn of the last of us. Dionysus, friend, tell us a few phrases. Dionysus (shaking the bottle). Well, there’s plenty of fun and jokes here even without me, and my gift is strong wine. It was brewed by young Hebe and bestows years of life for the joy of the family, for the glory of the entire fatherland. Accept the immortal gift of the gods as a gift from us, And it’s time for us to depart for our heavenly palace. Zeus. And at parting, I will tell you all, friends, It was not for nothing that we rejoiced so much at the birth of the baby, It was not for nothing that he gave generously, from the heart, He grew up to be what we imagined. We have nothing more to wish for him... It's time to go, it's time for us to know the honor. The last toasts are raised to the hero of the day and the gods depart to the sounds of Greek music. Between the performances of the gods, you can insert various competitions. For example, after Athena, dedicated to intelligence and wisdom, you can hold intellectual competitions under the motto “We praise the mind, it sanctifies our path.” There may be various literary riddles, quizzes on knowledge of Greek mythology, geography, and cuisine. After congratulating Hephaestus, various creative competitions are held (for the fastest and most delicious salad or sandwich, for the most successful cocktail, for the most delicious shawarma, etc. ). You can include blind handicraft competitions, make a poster as a gift for the birthday boy, etc. After Hera’s congratulations, it’s a good idea to include interesting stories and anecdotes from the life of the birthday boy; after Aphrodite’s words, you can arrange any paired dance competitions, as well as dressing and undressing entertainment, and take a short dance break, which opens the hero of the day with his (her) spouse. After Dionysus's performance, the funniest pantomime or the newest joke is held. Each winner of the competition is awarded a laurel wreath, which is placed on the head by the nymphs and dryads who greeted the guests. After the speech of the god of fun, you can hold a competition “Who can eat the most cakes (cupcakes, puddings, strawberries in cream, etc.)” or “Who can drain a cup of wine in one go” (the wine is diluted half with water, it’s better for the competition Just use light wine drinks like Sangria). Anniversary scenarios History of the anniversary holiday Picnic at the hero of the day Anniversary in ancient Greek style

The Greeks didn't invent the concept of a party, but they perfected it. Definitely!

So to celebrate his 44th birthday, New York-based event designer Bronson van Wyck decided to head to Mykonos. His mythological evening, dubbed the "Homeric Ball", took place on July 7 in the custom-built ruins of a Doric-style temple in an abandoned factory overlooking the Aegean Sea. The birthday boy appeared at the celebration in the image of Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy.

Van Wyck, who has planned parties for celebrities like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, talks about his inspirations and current event design trends.

What inspired you when creating the concept?

I've wanted to do a Greek Myths party since I was 10 years old! Gods and goddesses, heroes, monsters - these are the superheroes of my childhood. I've been trying to convince some client to give me this theme for a decade. But finally I decided to do it myself. I'm currently writing a book about hospitality, and it begins with a chapter about the ancient Greeks. So I was really happy to see this as inspiration for my birthday.

Were there any unexpected surprises (good or bad) along the way?

Greek hospitality is literally legendary. I have always been inspired by the Greek concept of hospitality. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my friends in Mykonos. Looks like the whole island has been helpful to us! On the night of the party, the mayor and governor of the island were in dance costumes next to me.

What design trends are you seeing in the market today?

Maximalism. We live in the age of Instagram, so everything is bigger, brighter, better. More than ever, everyone is thinking about what exactly appears in pictures online. Bold colors, variety of textures and prints.

What are your tips for anyone planning a big birthday party?

Be ready! For outdoor events, preparation is never too early. Book everything early.

Bronson's best party moments for you.

Dionysus

The host of the party in the form of the god of wine.

Dress code

The guest list included a mix of friends and family. They were all dressed in Greek costumes.

Dream come true

“Gods and goddesses, heroes, monsters—the superheroes of my childhood,” says Bronson van Wyck.

Ancient Greek decor

Party decor included Greek mythology, frescoes and tridents.

Every person on Earth at least once dreamed of becoming a god, omnipotent and omnipotent. Unfortunately, this is not possible in real life. But you can transform into gods, for example, of Ancient Greece and plunge into the world of majesty and Olympic pathos. Thus, you can organize a great birthday surprise in Greek style. In addition, everyone has been familiar with ancient Greek mythology since childhood, and even general superficial knowledge is enough to feel the atmosphere of antiquity.

First of all, in organizing this event it is worth dividing the roles and not forgetting. Fortunately, the Greek pantheon of gods allows you to choose the most suitable image for yourself, matching the characteristics of the hero and personal qualities. We provide a small list of gods to choose from, so that each invitee can find his own prototype of a god and create his unique image.

For girls:

  • Hera is the supreme goddess, wife of Zeus. She is a queen among the Greek gods, so her image needs to show greatness. A crown will add completeness to the look.
  • Athena is a wise warrior woman. Fair and serious, her image is perfectly complemented by a red toga and helmet.
  • Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty. Lightness and coquetry should be present in every movement.
  • Artemis is the goddess of the hunt and patroness of animals. A bow and arrow will be an integral attribute, and a toga with an animal print (leopard, tiger) and fur are allowed in the costume.
  • Persephone is the goddess of the underworld. Against the backdrop of beautiful goddesses, she stands out with a black toga and aggressive dark makeup.
  • Demeter is the goddess of fertility and patroness of agriculture. She is calm, her image is as close to nature as possible.

For men:

  • Zeus is the main Olympian god. The obligatory details of his image are a trident that shoots lightning, a crown and a gorgeous beard; Zeus walked in a red or gold robe.
  • Ares is the god of war, the most courageous and fearless. A blood-colored toga and helmet are a must-have wardrobe item.
  • Poseidon is the god of the water element. It has a changeable mood, just like the surface of the water. Toga of sea shades.
  • Eros is the god of love and desire. A strong and handsome seducer and conqueror of all women's hearts.
  • Apollo is the god of the arts, light and patron of the muses. A dreamer and a romantic, he is always in his own thoughts. A handsome long-haired young man with a wreath on his head.
  • Hades is the god of the kingdom of the dead. His image is not just gloomy, it is sinister and frightening.
  • Dionysus is the god of winemaking and the fruit-bearing forces of the earth. With a vine wreath on his head, he sings songs and enjoys life.

Next we decorate the room. The celebration hall should be in light colors (shades of white and gold), a lot of light is welcome. Gold and white candles, light flowing textiles with geometric patterns specific to Greece, laurel wreaths and an abundance of fresh flowers and green branches will also add Greek flavor. For a complete “relocation” to Olympus, print out posters of Greek landscapes and attach them to the walls.

Greeks prefer light but filling food. Therefore, the table should have an abundance of vegetables, seafood, olives and lean meat. And, of course, an abundance of wine in beautiful amphorae. Not only will it look beautiful, but drinks in clay vessels will retain their freshness and coolness longer.

The ancient Greek gods did not like to be bored, they had a lot of all kinds of entertainment: the Olympic Games, theaters, gladiator fights, the battle of the gods for supremacy - from this list you can create interesting competitions that are suitable specifically for your company. It is advisable that guests behave in accordance with their chosen roles during the entire event (when congratulating the birthday person, when participating in competitions, during personal conversations). At the end of the holiday, you can learn the national Greek dance - sirtaki.

Majestic, pompous - a party in the Greek style. Plunge into the era of immortal gods and great heroes.
And so where to start - of course, with the choice of venue. Although there is no need to think twice about this, almost any cafe, restaurant will do; you can throw a party outdoors or at home.
After you have chosen the place, start with invitations, decorations... well, in general, read, everything is in detail there

Each of us loves to have fun. But the eyes crave variety. As a result, we decide to create something special. The idea of creating a party in Greek style will be extraordinary.

Invitations

An important component at any party is invitations. They, in a certain sense, are the face of your holiday, even before it begins. What should they be? There are two options. The first is custom ones. Designers will create the appropriate style, placing all the most important points in the right places. As you know, the Greeks did not particularly indulge themselves in clothing. This means that you will need to dress simply and elegantly. Invitations, in turn, should be the same. Accordingly, if they are custom-made, then it is enough to add a few beautiful images.
The best images will be Greek symbols. Thus, the image of a bottle of olive oil, which spreads throughout the postcard, will add an appetizing and refined aroma. Also, one should not ignore the philosophers of ancient Greece. Their “conversation” in the invitation will give the future event more coziness and comfort.
It’s a good idea to give your future guests an olive branch along with the invitation. This will make the future party elegant, fun and in keeping with Greek culture.
If you are a fan of amateur performances, then a good idea would be to come up with an image for each of your guests and find him a corresponding character from Greek history and myths. The Internet allows you to find many photos and pictures, print them and paste them into the invitation. The result of this work will be a joint discussion of each guest and his similarity with the chosen hero.
In general, the main thing is that the invitation is made from the heart. With this, you will make your Greek style party 50% comfortable, fun and original.

Situation

Your Greek party should “radiate” grandeur, pomp, and pathos. It is better to assign the roles of the guests in advance, who will be what deity or hero, to make it easier to choose costumes.
At the Greek party, classical music plays and of course “Sirtaki”
A Greek-style party can be held indoors, or outdoors; the decoration of the venue will depend on this.
So:

Hang prints of Greek gods, Greek landscapes and architecture on your walls.
Hang decorative vines and bunches of grapes.
Arrange a lot of flowers, you can scatter rose petals on the floor.
Lay out a variety of sea shells.
Any palm trees (which you find) are perfect for decoration, or you can use balloons.

If, when meeting guests, you put decorative laurel wreaths on their heads, this will help you immediately immerse your guests in the atmosphere of the Greek holiday.

Suits

The most famous and simple costume for a Greek party is the costume of the Greek gods. It will not be difficult for you to look at examples of Greek attire on the Internet. Moreover, in ancient Greece, dresses were not cut and you will not have to sew anything complicated. You can buy a costume or make it yourself. You will only need pieces of rectangular fabric and a belt.
The usual Greek dress is a chiton. Noble girls wore clothes in white and light colors.
A chiton with a lapel was a rectangular piece of fabric sewn together. At the places of fastening, the lapel was draped with several folds and belted with a belt. The excess length formed a kind of overlap over the belt, the so-called.
The shoes of the Greeks followed the shape of the foot. Sandals were made of colored, gilded leather, decorated with metal plaques and embroidered with pearls. The sandals were complemented by lacing, sometimes reaching to the knees.

Greek cuisine

As the saying goes: “Greece has everything,” so almost any food is suitable for a Greek party. This includes meat, fish, poultry, fruits, vegetables and, of course, Greek wine.

Recipes for the most famous and beloved dishes by the Greeks:
“Dakos” or “Kukouvaia” is a traditional round Cretan bread “dakos”, slightly soaked and crushed tomatoes and soft cheese “anfotiro” (sometimes replaced with grated feta) are placed on it. All this is seasoned with olive oil and oregano.

Oracle
You can put on an oracle at a party. A large, opaque vase containing notes with various sayings and quotes from famous people. Each guest can go to the oracle, take out one piece of paper from there and read about what awaits him in the future.
For example:
At the beginning of the party, divide the guests into teams of 4 or 8 people and, as the holiday progresses, organize Olympic games among these teams. Name the teams after the names of ancient Greek cities: Athens, Sparta, Delphi, Thebes, Corinth, Mycenae, Syracuse, Heraklion. It is important that each team has approximately equal numbers of men and women.
Each participant in the competition will not only receive a prize but also earn points for their cities. At the end of the event, the team with the most points will receive additional prizes.

Competition Wrestling
We call one contestant from each team. We divide all participants into pairs. We take and attach, using clothespins, a piece of paper to each participant’s back just below the neck. At the leader’s command, the participants try to tear a piece of paper from the opponent’s back. Losers are eliminated, winners fight winners. The winner of the competition receives a prize and earns a point for his city.
Archery competition
Buy a children's toy bow and have an archery competition.

High jump competition
Call the competition participants onto the dance floor or any other spacious area. Launch as many balloons as possible to the ceiling. At the leader’s command, all participants begin to jump for the balls, catching them and bursting them. The one who pops the most balloons wins. Warn participants in advance not to throw away the remains of burst balloons; they will be counted at the end of the competition.

Olive competition
We call the participants from each team and give each one a saucer with 10 or even 15 olives on it. Participants stand in front of a visually drawn line. The task of the participants is to give all the olives to the rest of the guests at a signal accompanied by cheerful music, without dropping a single one. Guests are not allowed to touch the olives with their hands. Each participant can only eat one olive.

Siren Competition
A women's karaoke competition, and call it a siren competition. Who with their beautiful voices made men go crazy.

Race walking
We call several tipsy men from the hall. We tell them that on the leader’s command they need to go to the chair, go around it and come back, but not just like that, but according to all the rules of race walking. One foot should always be completely pressed to the floor, from the tip of the toe to the heel. You can make the competition more difficult - participants will have to hold a spoon with an egg in their teeth. Your guests will be very pleased with the funny gait of the competition participants, especially the erotic swaying of their hips.

Fishing
We call the participants of the competition and give each one a fishing rod (fishing rod: a meter-long stick, we tie a slightly longer rope to it, we tie a small magnet to the end of the rope), we mark a line beyond which the players cannot step. At a short distance from the fishermen we scatter coins, only in denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks (others are not magnetic). The presenter times the time. On command, the participants begin to fish by casting their fishing rods. Whoever pulls out the largest amount within the allotted time wins.

Greece is a rich cultural heritage, warm sea, delicious cuisine and much more. A party in the Greek style is always stylish, bright, with a touch of some pomp. Choosing a place to hold an event will not be difficult - everything can be organized both in the open air and in almost any establishment from a cafe to a nightclub.

We invite you on a trip to Greece

The person who receives an invitation to the party must immediately guess the theme of the evening. As a hint, you can use the image of an olive branch on the invitation. And the text, which tells about where you need to come and for what reason, can be written in the style of the philosophers of Ancient Greece. Fragrant sprigs of bay leaves will complement the picture and engage not only vision, but also the sense of smell, which will undoubtedly intrigue the guest and create a charming anticipation of something unusual.

If there are not too many guests and you have time, you can come up with your own image for each person, which he should try to match - Greek gods and goddesses, philosophers, heroes of myths - a simple search on the Internet gives many options. All that remains is to print the photo and attach it to the invitation. In addition, you can prepare laurel wreaths with which the heads of the guests will be decorated.

Below is a small selection of invitations in the Greek style. As you can see from the photographs, there is nothing complicated or unusual about them. When making such invitations, it will be enough to take into account the national ornament or roll them into a tube, as messengers did to deliver letters and important messages.

Let's create Greece with our own hands

An important condition is more pathos; modesty is inappropriate here. Magnificent statues, paintings of gods and heroes of Greece, artificial branches of vines and vineyards, rose petals at the feet of those present, outlandish shells, starfish - all these attributes will be appropriate and will help create an atmosphere of sophisticated splendor.

Music is only classical, do not forget about the famous “Sirtaki”.

And, of course, don’t forget about the Gods of ancient Greece! Guests of your event will probably be interested in learning about the epic of ancient Greece. However, there is no need to strive to convey this information to everyone. A local stand, where anyone can come, decorated in Greek style, where, for example, leaflets with photos and descriptions of each God will be placed, will be quite sufficient.

Here is a small list of the main Greek gods that should definitely be on your list:

  • Zeus is the supreme god and king of the gods who are part of the Olympian family. The deity of the sky, celestial space, the lord and master of everything that happens in nature, the lives of gods and people, the future and destiny are open to him. As the god of the sky, Zeus commands thunder and lightning, gathers and disperses clouds. Zeus is the father of most members of the Olympian family of gods. One of the main centers of his cult was the town of Olympia in Elis, where the Olympic Games were held in his honor.
  • Poseidon is one of the main Olympic gods, the brother of Zeus, the deity of sea moisture, the ruler of numerous sea deities and at the same time the patron of horse breeding.
  • Prometheus is one of the Titans, that is, the gods of the first generation from Gaia and Uranus, the patron saint of people and civilized life; gave people fire and introduced it to its use, taught people reading, writing, navigation, sciences and crafts. He aroused the wrath of Zeus, who chained him to a rock in the Caucasus, where an eagle that flew in every day pecked out his liver.
  • Hades is one of the main Greek gods, the ruler of the kingdom of the dead and the entire underworld. Brother of Zeus, Poseidon and Demeter.
  • Apollo (Phoebus) is one of the main Greek gods, the son of Zeus, brother of Artemis. Deity of the sun, sunlight, enlightenment, patron of art, personified by 9 muses, agriculture, guardian of herds, roads, travelers, sailors, warrior god, healer god and soothsayer god. The most important centers of the cult of Apollo in Greece were Delphi with its famous oracle, the islet of Delos and Didyma near Miletus.
  • Ares (or Ares) - god of war, military art, son of Zeus and Hera. One of the main Olympic deities.
  • Athena is one of the main goddesses of the Greek pantheon, was part of the family of 12 Olympian gods, the patroness of wisdom, science, crafts, victorious war and peaceful prosperity, the main goddess of Athens and Attica. Born in an unusual way: Athena came out of the head of Zeus.
  • Aphrodite is one of the main goddesses of Greece, part of the family of 12 Olympian deities, daughter of Zeus; according to another version, she was born from sea foam, the goddess of beauty, sensual love, female fertility and love charm.
  • Hermes (Ermius) - a member of the Olympic family, one of the main Greek gods, was the messenger and messenger of the gods, fulfilling their will, but at the same time performed numerous functions, was the patron of heralds, gymnastic competitions of youth, trade and associated wealth, cunning, dexterity, deception and theft, travel, roads and crossroads. Son of Zeus and Maya. He accompanied the souls of the dead to the kingdom of Hades.
  • Hephaestus is a member of the Olympic family, patron of fire and blacksmithing, son of Zeus and Hera, husband of Aphrodite.

Party ambience

To create the right atmosphere, you should learn several phrases in Greek, for example these:

  • How are you? - Ti canis?
  • No - Oh?
  • To your health - St?n igi?ya su!
  • Goodbye - Ya?su;
  • Hello, hello, hello - I?sas, I?su, I;
  • Thank you – Efkharisto?;
  • Yes - Ne;

Dressing in Greek

As for the costumes for the participants of the event, first of all these are the outfits of the gods. The gods who have just descended from Olympus should be dressed in white robes, which can be bought in a specialized store or sewn in an atelier. For girls, any dresses in the Greek style are suitable - with a high waist and a loose-fitting floor-length skirt.

Another option is a chiton, this is a dress that is essentially a rectangular piece of fabric sewn on the sides. This baggy robe becomes quite attractive once you tie it with a belt.

Shoes made of leather in golden shades and decorated with pearls and metal elements are welcome. You can try on knee-length lace-up sandals.

Let's eat Greek dishes

If you imagine what the gods ate in Ancient Greece, then, of course, it was meat, poultry, fish, fresh vegetables, fruits. And you can drink Greek wine, its enchanting aroma will add piquancy to any dish, so you shouldn’t stop at just a few names, let the tables be bursting with abundance and symbolize luxury.

As for national cuisine, “Dakos” would be appropriate. This is a round dried bread that, after soaking for a short time, is eaten together with soft cheese, tomatoes, olive oil and herbs. Let’s not forget about the famous “Greek Salad” and the lesser known “Tzatziki”, “Angurodomata” and others.

For hot dishes you can serve “Moussaka” - baked eggplants with potatoes, minced meat and cheese, “Briam” - essentially vegetables stewed with herbs, “Bamies” - Greek peppers or beans, which are baked in the oven, seasoned with tomatoes and greens, "Suzukakya" and so on. Meat is cooked on coals or on a spit; popular types are pork, lamb, beef and, of course, chicken.

Let's have fun the Greek way

Competition "Wrestling"

We divide all participants into pairs. We take and attach, using clothespins, a piece of paper to each participant’s back just below the neck. At the leader's command, participants try to tear a piece of paper from the opponent's back. The winner of the competition receives a prize.

Competition "Archery"

Buy a children's toy bow and have an archery competition. This competition can be replaced by a game of Darts. Whoever hits the bull's eye the most, using the theme of Greece, is the winner.

Competition "Collect olives"

A line is drawn in front of the participants, beyond which they can go, or, more precisely, run, after the leader’s words “Let’s go.” At some distance from the line, opposite each participant, place a small container, for example, a bucket. Each participant receives the same number of olives on a plate (for example, 7 pieces). Task: with this filled plate, each participant needs to run to the bucket without dropping a single olive from the plate, then put one olive in the bucket and run back to the starting point, then repeat everything in a circle as many times as there are olives in the plate. The winner is the one who did not drop a single olive and, having transferred all the olives into a bucket, ran to the start first.

Competition “Catch the Greek Fish”

We give each participant a fishing rod (fishing rod: a meter-long stick, we tie a slightly longer rope to it, we tie a small magnet to the end of the rope), we mark a line beyond which the players cannot step. At a short distance from the fishermen we scatter coins, only in denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks (others are not magnetic). The presenter times the time. On command, participants begin fishing by casting their fishing rods. Whoever pulls out the largest amount within the allotted time wins.

Competition "Sirtaki"

The competition participants must perform the “Sirtaki” dance to the famous music. The winner will be the one who remembers the most “steps” that make up this dance, or even performs it completely from beginning to end. If there are no guests who know this dance at the festival, then let the one who danced the most spectacularly and most fun of all get the prize.

Organizing a Greek party is quite difficult, but very exciting. Thinking through images, decorating the venue for the holiday - all these worries immerse you in another reality, in an era of serene and magnificent time, when the gods still descended from heaven, and abundance always reigned on the tables. Treat yourself and your guests to true luxury, the kind that only heaven's chosen can afford.
